International Literacy Day

was celebrated at Dhenkanal Mahila Mahavidyalaya on 8th September 2026 under the aegis of the IQAC in collaboration with the Department of English, Odia and Sanskrit in the Smart Classroom at 10.30 am. Dr. Sakuntala Jena, Principal and Sri Bhubaneswar Muduli, Administrative Bursar graced the occasion and illuminated the students on the importance of the International Literacy Day and value of education in human life. An essay competition was held on the occasion to create awareness among the students on ‘education and literacy in present time’.
Dr. Tapas Kumar Jena and Dr. Sarojini Das, Department of Odia, and Udhaba Mallick, Department of Sanskrit, and Dr. Shidharth Sankar Ram, Department of Botany and Member, IQAC extended all support and active participation to make the event a success. Dr. Jajati Keshari Pradhan, Department of English and Coordinator, IQAC, facilitated and coordinated the programme. The programme highlighted the importance of literacy as a foundation for education, empowerment, equality and responsible citizenship. The programme ended with vote of thanks by the IQAC Coordinator.The celebration reinforced the institution’s commitment to the ideals of Education for All, Empowerment and Stronger Communities.

Awareness Programme on “Career Opportunities in Horticulture”

An Awareness Programme on “Career Opportunities in Horticulture” was organized on 5 September 2026 at Dhenkanal Mahila Mahavidyalaya by the Career Counselling and Placement Cell, in collaboration with the IQAC and the Department of Botany.
The programme was graced by Smt. Smaranika Das, Assistant Director of Horticulture, Dhenkanal, as the Resource Person. She provided valuable insights into the diverse career opportunities available in the field of horticulture, including government services, entrepreneurship, floriculture, fruit and vegetable cultivation, nursery management, and other allied areas. She also encouraged students to explore skill-based and self-employment opportunities in the horticulture sector.
The programme was informative and interactive, enabling students to gain a better understanding of the career prospects and professional opportunities associated with horticulture. The event concluded with a vote of thanks to the Resource Person and all those who contributed to the successful organization of the programme. The programme concluded with plantation of mango saplings in the campus.
The programme was beneficial in creating awareness among students and motivating them to consider horticulture as a promising career option.

An Awareness session on “Youth Employment Programme” was organized on 3 September 2026 at Dhenkanal Mahila Mahavidyalaya by the Career Counselling and Placement Cell, in collaboration with IQAC and Shaktisree, Dhenkanal Mahavidyalaya.
The programme featured Mr. Pyarimohan Mohapatra, TCS, as the Resource Person. He sensitized the students about various employment opportunities available to young graduates and emphasized the importance of developing employability skills, communication skills, technical knowledge, and professional competencies. He also guided the students on preparing themselves for the competitive job market and building a successful career.
The programme was informative and beneficial for the students, providing them with valuable guidance regarding employment opportunities and career development. The event concluded with a vote of thanks to the Resource Person and all the participants for their active involvement and support in making the programme successful.

Orientation-cum-sensitization Programme on the implementation of “Manodarpan”

Orientation-cum-sensitization Programme on the implementation of “Manodarpan” initiative was held at Dhenkanal Mahila Mahavidyalaya on 30.03.2026 at Smart Room -01 at 10 am . This initiative aims at strengthening Psychosocial support systems,promoting mental health and emotional well-being of the students.The “Manodarpan” initiative seeks to create a safe, inclusive and supportive academic environment by addressing stress, anxiety, emotional distress and other mental health challenges faced by the students during their academic journey. This programme was organized by the Mental Health & Wellness Cell in collaboration with Shaktishree Empowerment Cell of Dhenkanal Mahila Mahavidyalaya,Dhenkanal

The faculty members and students had attended the programme. Dr. Sakuntala Jena, Principal sensitized everyone about this initiative and the official portal of “Manodarpan” which hosts self help materials, videos,podcasts and counselling resources for students, Parents and Faculty members.She had also sensitized everyone about the Manodarpan National Toll-free Helpline number-844 844 0632 which addresses the Psychosocial issues of students.

Demonstration regarding the Manodarpan portal, video materials under Manodarpan Paricharcha, Sahyog was also presented during the programme. All were advised to be compassionate & empathetic towards each other which will help to keep a positive mindset for establishing a healthy, supportive, inclusive and resilient environment. Availability of support system and the role of teachers, Parents, peer support groups in fostering mental health was also highlighted.
