DEPARTMENT OF ZOOLOGY:
The Department of Zoology was established and formally began functioning in the year 2015. It commences teaching zoology as an honours subject at the degree level with an intake capacity of 32 seats. The allotment is made by the Govt. of Odisha through Student Academic Management System (SAMS). The department also teaches zoology to students as an elective paper which is a part of the prescribed curriculum of Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) syllabus. It has also a fully functional seminar library with latest editions and publications on various fields of the subjects. Students are encouraged to participate as well as to conduct seminars in various topics related to zoology. Study tours are conducted and the tour report is presented in the shape of project report for semester examination. Speakers are invited at periodic intervals to deliver talks on topics of current academic interest. Students passing out of the department are now placed in different leading academic and research institutes.
Profile of the Faculty
Ms. Leena Gantayat has been in teaching profession since her joining in service in 2011. She has 12 years of teaching experience. She has completed 5 Orientation/Refreshers Courses. Her specialization is Fish Biology and Fishery Science, and her research interests include Biodiversity and Conservation of Wild Life.
Sibani Moharana has completed MSc from NIT Rourkela in Life Science (Zoology) in 2015 and MPhil from Sambalpur University in 2016. She has 5 years of teaching experience. She has attended 3 national and 1 international seminars.
Satyam Arya has completed MSc from Utkal University in 2017 and MPhil from Gangadhar Meher University in 2019. He has 3 years of teaching experience. He has attended 3 seminars/workshops.
