DEPARTMENT OF ECONOMICS
The Department of Economics is one of the premier departments of Dhenkanal Mahila Mahavidyalaya. The Honours programme of the department was started in the year 1982 under Utkal University and since 2015 it is functioning under Rama Devi Women’s University, Bhubaneswar. The Department as a strength of 8 seats in its honours programmes in an academic year. The seat allotment is made by the Govt of odisha through Student Academic Management system (SAMS). It has a Seminar Library with latest editions of books on various areas of Economics subject. Our Students organize various student seminars on diverse topics. Our students have performed well in various examinations and extracurricular activities and bagged various awards too.
Dr. Trupti Mayee Sahoo has received Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR) doctoral fellowship for the year 2018-2020. She has been awarded her doctorate degree in February 2021, from Central University of Gujarat and the title of her thesis is “Structural Change, Economic Growth and Employment in India: A State-Wise Analysis.” She also worked as research assistant in an ICSSR funded project “Multi- Dimensional Assessment of Rural Transformation in selected district of Gujarat” during October 2020 to October 2021 at Pandit Deendayal Energy University. She has published one paper titled “Structural Change in Economic Growth and Employment in Odisha: 1970-71 to 2015-16” in Odisha Economic Journal. She has also published one book chapter titled “Structural Change and Economic Growth in India: A State-Wise Analysis” in the book Current Issues in The Economy and Finance in India. She is also a lifetime member of Odisha Economic Association (OEA).
Padmanav Behera has completed his M.A. from Dr. Harisingh Gour Central University, Sagar, Madhya Pradesh in 2022 and he achieved 3
rd rank in M.A.Economics. He joined Dhenkanal Mahila Mahavidyalaya in 2023. He also worked in a three months dissertation work under the supervision of Dr.Keshav Tekam and the title of dissertation work was “Living standard of marginal and small farmers in M.P. (A micro study special reference with Jharkhuwa village panchayat of Panna district)”. He has attended 2 workshops and 2 seminars.
